  • Mon, 14:28: Race to the bottom: the disastrous blindfolded rush to mine the deep sea https://t.co/80sKaoVSLo / so we've destroyed the surface, the air and plundered the seas but never mind, there's always the seabed. It's like a plague of insatiably hungry locusts!
  • Mon, 15:26: Fuel shortages and the whole country goes into meltdown. What happened to the debate on emissions, climate change and saving humanity? Well, needs must. In short, humanity is far too important to worry about the detail. And I'm one of those smug people who doesn't have a car btw.
  • Mon, 15:59: Why don't Buddhists advocate for non-procreation as a way to alleviate suffering? It would render, eventually, the whole thesis redundant.
  • Mon, 16:31: I'm assuming all #vegans are anti-natalists. If not, why not?

  • Mon, 17:55: “Do you hate people?” “I don't hate them...I just feel better when they're not around.” ― Charles Bukowski, Barfly
  • Mon, 18:06: I love the discipline of law -- no, I really do -- but it's way too confrontational not to say anthropocentric. As an example, there's the whole earth law movement which is an anathema. What, we humans have to grant 'rights' to nature. Sounds bizarre.
  • Mon, 18:11: Why can't lawyers swear? Oh, I know because we'd bring the profession into disrepute. Does anyone believe that? Perhaps I should just let her rip and suffer the striking off consequences. (Of course, I should link this Tweet to the regulator -- haha.)
  • Mon, 18:18: Am I the only one who daily thinks of those people no longer here? Centre stage is my late uncle Adrian who was the most extraordinary human I've ever known.
  • Mon, 18:26: It's heartbreaking to admit this but I wasn't wanted as a kid. As sh*t as it sounds, the world wouldn't have missed me. Before you chime in, I'm not depressed. I'm simply telling you what it was like to grow up in a house where I was told to take a long walk on a short pier.
  • Mon, 18:41: I keep having to explain and describe the word anthropocentrism. Why is that?
  • Mon, 18:44: I can look back at my life, spanning several generations (at least until 1896 -- yep, really), and know that not a scintilla of consideration was placed on bringing new beings into existence. That makes me quite sad. I mean, this is the 6th mass extinction, meaning absent us...

  • Tue, 05:14: First coffee of the day. Not the best night's sleep thanks to the eejits who decided to race their motorbikes somewhere nearby. It felt like I was in a scene from Black Rain https://t.co/2sGPjOPkvB

  • Tue, 08:20: It's so easy to become a misanthrope right now.
  • Tue, 08:52: My morning music is provided by @BBCRadio3 — always blissful. Radio 4 was binned years ago. Too many triggers were being set off.
  • Tue, 09:12: There's a whole industry devoted to spiritual bypassing. I wouldn't mind if the thesis was that 'X' could awaken the whole world to a (much) less anthropocentric, more egalitarian way of being but there's never or at least rarely that level of ambition or acceptance.
  • Tue, 10:15: What a terrible advertisement for the profession — if that is still what it is. https://t.co/1YF9zDI05O
