Nature bats last
even if it's tinged with a hollow sadness.
Do we really think we can outrun our anthropocentric ways?
Dream on dear readers.
In my book — as uneducated and random as it is — I don't see a way back: our fate is already sealed unless we stop now emitting greenhouse gases,
and cut the umbilical cord to our individualistic ways.
Sure, that's some massive leap — utopian in many ways — but qua consumer, we simply can't or rather won't be able to stop the fossil fuel juggernaut,
nor all those companies who are and will continue to exploit the planet and people without so much as a by your leave.
There's always non-violent protest.
But, in these egregious CV-19 times, it's hard to see how you galvanise let alone safely mobilise an army of anarchists. I'm not saying it's impossible but out of sight is, as they say,
And shouting at the screen isn't the same thing as the front line.
Then again, I could have this all so very long. There's a way, always a hope-fuelled way, to dig us out our cesspit of materialism, greed and excess that has so filled up our lives these past few aeons.
And well, if all else fails, there's always a miracle!
