The enemy within

“The ego relies on the familiar. It is reluctant to experience the unknown, which is the very essence of life.” -- Deepak Chopra

We try to control every aspect of our life.

But who's (actually) in control?

If you can sit for a moment and not think, you'll notice an empty space where there's no tension, no demands and no escape to somewhere else. (If a thought arises let it pass...and the next, but just sit for a few seconds in peace.)

If you do this exercise, you'll quickly understand there's only this moment. Right now. Right here.

Now, imagine living like that every day. For me, it's the essence of beginner's mind.

This isn't a wish to be lost in a transcendental haze. Far from it. This is to be at peace...with everything and nothing.

As you reflect on the journey ahead, consider how and where the internal thoughts arise. Don't think manipulation or wrestling them different. Just allow them to be and not energise them to the point you ignore what's really going on.
