Riding my bike

Yesterday I came across a quote from Eddy Merckx. I don't remember the exact words but, in essence, it exhorted that riding was just that, riding. However, the secret was to ride your bike every day, no matter the distance or the time.

It's fantastic message for a sport (and for life) that demands so much of your body (and mind).

But actually it reminded me of that other quote by Winston Churchill: “If you are going through hell, keep going.”

If you're intersted here's a bit of footage of my all time favourite cyclist Marco Pantani. The bravery and skill is nothing less than world class; but then again he was probably one of the most gifted climbers of his era, even allowing for the fact that nearly all professional riders were taking performance enhancing drugs.
