Passing the time away has become a pastime.

We kick the can down the road in the hope that something better will come along. But it never does. Trust me, I've been in the game long enough (33 years).

The thing is a company might offer a course designed to improve your skills but they're sure as hell not going to help you overcome the fear of change.

Should they?

Of course.

Perhaps I'm in the minority of one, but all managers, leaders or supposed HR gurus should understand that they only have one job, namely to enable you to become the best version of you, even if that means they have to help you leave to make the most of your innate talents.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are people who are very happy to sit there day after day and do the same thing but who are they benefitting? If we have an epidemic it's one of courage. Oh sure, we can support the local charity or good cause but ourselves?

No.

To my mind, the future is clear: whilst we continue to brainwash people at school, home and the workplace, nothing will change. But, at some stage, things will change, most likely in a way that no one can predict -- revolution not evolution.

If you're on the edge, don't wait to be pushed. Engineer a life of meaning, purpose and passion. And remember this day doesn't have to be like yesterday. In simple terms, all you need do is speak up and speak out.

Simple.
