No more work...for 2019

Trust me, I don't walk to work looking like this, but I like the picture and thought, "Hey, why not!".

But, yes, I've done my turn for 2019 and am now off until 6 January 2020.

Lucky me, hey; but, seriously, I need the break.

It's not like I've been working flat out, but more I need to get off the treadmill of sameness (I was tempted to say dullness 😉) and restore a little of my body/soul/spirit.

I know, that sounds (like so much of my writing 🙈) awkwardly pretentious but having worked for myself for six years (2010-16), I know the difference between managing my work to fit my life, and having to order my life, day after mundane day, to fit my work.

NY resolutions (2020)

Just about now there will be (I'm sure) a plethora of highly suggestive posts exhorting that we list out all the things that we're going to do in 2020 that we didn't do this year or should be doing.

Excuse the profanity, but it's all bullsh*t!

"How so, Ju?"

'Cos (in case you hadn't noticed), you don't create your interests, your love of certain things (and not others) and you most certainly don't will your will.

"Oh, I see: I'm just meant to sit around and do sweet FA."

Yes, if you like but chances are you'll be moved to move and whilst it might be nice to write down those things that are bugging the crap out of you, trust me, the feeling — the itch if you like — won't last very long; and then you'll be back to square one.

Better I say to take each day as it comes; or better still to accept this moment as if you'd chosen it. Or if that's still not doing it for you — not that it should! — then approach each day with beginner's mind.

Or at least that's what I'm proposing to do.

Blessings,

Daughter #1

Guess what?

My eldest daughter (23) is back tomorrow from three months away; she's the one in  the red coat.

She's seen:

India
Nepal
Cambodia
Vietnam
Thailand
Singapore

... and all on a budget of £2,500. Not bad, hey! I'm not sure I could do it.

She's a wonderful organiser and I know she'll have kept herself super busy. There will be many stories to share and a few laughs.

As you can imagine, we're all terribly excited and I just hope that her flight from India isn't delayed, otherwise, we'll be spending a lot of time Heathrow Terminal 2.

LJ

I've just changed my profile — only the little emoji.

I like it even though I've no idea what it's supposed to mean.

But it does look like a few of the characters in the latest Star Wars film, and that's good.
