Standing out (when it matters)

South Brent

“Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.” - Leo Buscaglia

Did you read Seth Godin's post, Ruckusmaker Day?

For me, this was the part that particularly resonated:

"A daily blog is one way to achieve this. Not spouting an opinion or retweeting the click of the day. Instead, outlining what you believe and explaining why."

Perhaps it's me, but I'm hacked off with people decrying the status quo but who can't even bring themselves to blog, let alone stand up and be counted.

Take things like global warming, poverty, famine, inequality and greed. Who's taking a stand?

Not the politicians.

Not the church.

And certainly not our supposed leaders.

That leaves you and me.

And what are we doing? Waiting to be told what to do. (By whom?)

This isn't about revolution or mobilisation. If anything, it's about looking at our values and asking if they mean anything to us.

For me, I'm determined to keep pressing on with the twin trail.

What about you?

Are you ready and willing to take a stand? I hope so for you and everything you hold dear.

Resharing on Livejournal

Is there a formal etiquette on Livejournal? The thing is I see so much great stuff on other sites -- the above is from Tumblr -- that I don't want to slip by. I see some people post links but I often wonder if I would be more interested if I knew more than just the headline.

All thoughts gratefully received.
